Melissa Moynihan
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
I obtained a Master of Arts degree in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and completed my undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies at Bowling Green State University.
I work with children (from birth through adolescence), adults of all ages, and families. My areas of specialization include mood and anxiety disorders, self-esteem, behavioral struggles in children, ADHD coaching, parenting support, individual therapy, and family therapy.
I believe therapy is a safe and empowering space where individuals can explore who they are and begin the journey toward healing and personal growth. Whether working with a child, teen, adult, or family, I focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship rooted in trust, compassion, and respect.
Skills like positive self-talk, healthy boundaries, emotional regulation, and self-awareness are essential at every stage of life. I help clients build and strengthen these core skills so they can navigate challenges with greater confidence and authenticity. My therapeutic approach is integrative, often combining talk therapy with evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), along with consistent empathy, support, and encouragement throughout the process.
Each person is unique, and I adjust the therapeutic space to meet your individual needs—whether you're seeking support through a difficult time, struggling with a specific issue, or simply looking to better understand yourself and your relationships.
